Ski Touring

How physically fit do I have to be to come backcountry skiing at the Durrand Glacier
with Selkirk Mountain Experience?

Back Country Ski Ski Touring

Ski touring and ski mountaineering are physically demanding sports. They require endurance more than speed. This means that you do not need to be a world class athlete to enjoy backcountry skiing, but you do need to be an active person who enjoys endurance sport and a physical challenge. You must be able to walk uphill, on skis, for 4 to 5 hours per day (3,500 vertical feet for the relaxed pace ski touring programs and 5,500 vertical feet for the classic ski touring programs). Learn more about the wonderful backcountry and powder skiing options available to you at the Durrand Glacier.
