we ski in smaller groups
All ski-trips at the Durrand Glacier area run for a full week of seven days, from Saturday early morning until the following Saturday morning. To ensure high
quality skiing with a most reliable snow-pack, we start skiing at Durrand Glacier in December and go until early May. The only programs that are shorter than one
full week are during the New Year's week and the week following.
- The easiest way is to fly via Calgary or Seattle to Kelowna B.C.. There you take a taxi to the Greyhound bus station in Kelowna and board a Greyhound bus to Revelstoke. This ride takes about 2 1/2 hours.
- An other option is to rent a car in Kelowna and drive to Revelstoke. It is a 2 hour car drive. This is the best option if you are a group of three people or more.
- Fly to Calgary and take a taxi to the Greyhound bus station in down-town Calgary. There you board the Greyhound bus; 6 hours to Revelstoke.
- Fly to Calgary and rent a car.

Our office manager will meet you at the Best Western Hotel, in Revelstoke, in the early morning (time will be confirmed at time of booking) of the starting date
of your program with Selkirk Mountain Experience. From there a bus will drive you to the helicopter staging area. The five guests who will take the first
helicopter flight to the Durrand Glacier Chalet, from the Revelstoke airport, will drive their own car to the airport. The flight will take about 15 minutes,
weather depending.

After arrival at the Durrand Glacier Chalet, you will participate in an introductory talk about your stay with Selkirk Mountain Experience. This talk includes
a briefing on snow, avalanche and weather conditions.
After the briefing all guests will go through an in-depth avalanche beacon school. The avalanche school will cover what to do in avalanche situation or if you
are caught in an avalanche, how to call for help with the guest emergency radio, and how to find a victim as a group and as an individual with digital avalanche
beacons. Finally we will teach you about the use of the avalanche safety packs, the ABS Pack.
Around lunchtime it will be time to go for our first ski-tour. Depending on the number of guests at the lodge we will ski in up to three groups.

Throughout the rest of your ski vacation with Selkirk Mountain Experience, destinations for each group will be decided daily, taking into consideration: snow,
mountain conditions and the weather, as well as the skill and fitness level of the groups. As always, it is our primary goal to provide every guest with the very
best skiing possible. Selkirk Mountain Experience's focus is to guide you through a large variety of terrain and routes: up alpine peaks, across large glaciers and
through well spaced trees. Weather and conditions depending, every group has the opportunity to go Hut to Hut skiing to the beautiful Mt. Moloch Chalet. The Durrand
Glacier area is over 20,000 acres / 80 square km that includes 180 different ski-routes; when you ski with us, you will explore new terrain with big slopes and
untracked snow everyday. At Durrand Glacier we try to avoid skiing the same slope in a repetitive manner. Instead we concentrate on linking the best ski-lines
together, skiing big round tours up and down the classic peaks of the area.
Depending on the number of guests at the lodge we ski with up to 3 groups of reduced sizes.
