The Durrand Glacier Chalet is located at tree-line, 6400 ft./1960 m. elevation on top of a scenic knoll and at the starting gate to the most amazing alpine-skiing and tree-skiing. It enjoys a 360 degree panorama of towering peaks, expanding glaciers with a tangling labyrinthine of crevasses and glittering untracked slopes of light Northern Selkirk powder. On most evenings you can experience extraordinary sunsets over the deep valley of Carnes Creek and the high glaciers of the Northern Monashee Mountains from the large sun-deck.

The only access to the Durrand Glacier Chalet is by helicopter from Revelstoke. This 45 km flight takes about 15 minutes. The remoteness of this place is the single reason why you will not see any other people in the entire area except the guests staying together with you at the chalet.

At the Durrand Glacier Chalet we put great value on old-fashioned European hospitality and "Gemuetlichkeit", a cozy, warm and friendly atmosphere. It is a Swiss style alpine lodge, built with a beam and post construction and finished with cedar and pine siding. This 4500 square foot lodge gives each guest plenty of room to enjoy the ambiance of a remote alpine lodge. The chalet is intimate and comfortable but always in ecological balance with its wilderness surroundings. Each visit to this special place lets everybody leave stresses of the day-to-day world behind.

Every day the professional cook prepares 100% home-cooked delicious meals that include hot après-ski appetizers, tasty soups, fresh salads, Swiss pastry and tortes baked daily, fish and meat entrées and everybody's favourite... home baked bread. No one goes away hungry at Selkirk Mountain Experience and for many the food is one of the highlights of the trip.

Life and adventure at the Chalet is a family affair. The Beglinger's live here in a separate cabin; it is their home for the winter and summer months. They share this special place with their staff and each week with new guests from all around the world.
